Stuttgart travel guide

Stuttgart is situated in the south of Germany and lies comfortably in a lush valley surrounded by forest and vineyards.
Much like many other cities in Germany, Stuttgart suffered heavily during the war and as a result there are not that many historical points of interest although a few still remain such as both the old and new palaces and Schloss Solitude palace dating back to 1763.
The city of Stuttgart is the birth place of the motor industry as the town in which the motor car was first invented by Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz in 1887. The city is home to both Porsche and Mercedes Benz both of which have museums in the city. A whole host of other museums can be enjoyed by visitors on Castle Square.
Visitors to the city and region of Stuttgart can enjoy a vast array of activities throughout the year such as the Wilhelma combined Zoo and Botanical gardens or the largest and definitely most spectacular Christmas Market in the world. Music lovers will not be disappointed either, The Stuttgart Opera has the honour of being bestowed the award of Opera of the year 5 years running from 1998 until 2002.
